The 2006 RMSHC Specialty Show
The Celebration of the
Siberian Husky
Rocky
Mountain Siberian Husky Club Specialty
2006
by Karen Morin
Loyal
Siberian Husky exhibitors arrived from throughout the country for a
memorable specialty weekend. They came from Rhode Island on the East
coast, California on the west and many states between.
Special
guests included the SHCA Officers and Board of Directors who conducted
their Spring In-Person Meeting on Sunday following the specialty
events.
The
Holiday Inn Denver West was in Golden, CO, was once again the site for
the 20th Specialty Show, 12th Obedience Trial and 8th Puppy Sweepstakes
and first Veteran Sweepstakes of the Rocky Mountain Siberian Husky
Club, Inc. Everyone and their dogs had a wonderful time.
Show
Chair Kandy Tigerman and her committees planned and executed a great
weekend.
The trophy table was filled with Kaleidikolor Crafted By Steel Images
depicting Siberians snoozing, mushing, and playing. Trophies were
designed by Chuck McWilliams of Larkspur, CO.
The
festivities began on Friday afternoon with the Obedience Trial. Pat
Maynard judged a class of Novice A, Novice B and Open B. Pre-Novice was
offered as well as Veterans competition.
Following
the Obedience Trial was the Sweepstakes. Tommy Oelschlager evaluated a
nice group of puppies, junior dogs and veterans.
A
Chili Extravaganza was organized by Barbara Maciejewski and Diane
Douglas for Friday night hospitality. It was a great time to meet
people and renew old acquaintances.
Regular
breed judging began early on Saturday with breeder judges Jean Fournier
and Phil Norris judging in the Conformation ring. Results of each class
are available below.
The
happiest dogs were no doubt the 24 Veterans which with sparkling eyes
and wagging tails remembered careers gone by. Each of them was honored
with commemorative Veteran's participation ribbon and a mini-rock with
a sleeping Siberian.
The
Celebration of the Siberian Husky ended with a Parade of 25
titleholders entering and circling the ring, beginning with the
youngest, whelped in 2003 and ending with the oldest, whelped in 1990.
Each wore a personalized rosette and basked in the glory of the
applause.
The
after show dinner was chaired by Leslie Carpenter and Belinda Yager and
was followed by an auction. Other fund-raising events throughout the
weekend included a Chinese auction and a silent auction.
Jean
Fournier was the featured speaker at the Sunday morning seminar during
breakfast. She narrated her CD-ROM on the Siberian and presented a copy
to each participant.
The Northern California Siberian Husky Club will host its specialty in 2007 and the RMSHC will be back in 2008. Hope to see you there!
